saturday med.itations: A Pearl of Great Price

Large, perfectly shaped pearls equal the value of the most precious gemstones. But pearls are different from other gems. Most gems are minerals mined from the earth. Gem-quality pearls however, form inside the shells of one type of oyster, the sea pearl oyster that grow in the tropical waters of earth’s Eastern Hemisphere.

If the oyster is to produce a pearl, a piece of sand or other foreign substance has to find its way into it’s shell. The oyster immediately begins to coat the irritating grain with a type if lime. As it adds layer after layer of the pearly covering, the pearl keeps growing.

saturday med.itations: The Prayer of Jabez

1 Chronicles 4: 9 and 10.
Jabez was more honorable than his brothers: and his mother named him Jabez, saying, “Because I bore him with sorrow.” Jabez called on the God of Israel, saying, “Oh that you would bless me indeed, and enlarge my border, and that your hand might be with me, and that you would keep me from evil, that it not be to my sorrow!” God granted him that which he requested.

road mtbiking: San Juan – Lobo Loop

The town of Lobo in Batangas province offers many attractions, it has good white sand beaches and has a good coral and marine life on some beaches that attract many snorkelers and scuba divers, with just a 145 kilometers from Manila. However I’m not there last Sunday to take a plunge but to ride my mountain bike and took the San Juan to Lobo loop.

San Juan de Bolbok Trail #1

Town of San Juan is located at the easternmost part and the second largest municipality (thru land area with ~29,500 hectares) in Batangas province. With that large area there are plenty barangay road uncemented and lots of trails. I’m trying to explore more and find some possible mountain bike trails through isolated places of this town. Although many mtbikers have already passed those trails, I want to discover it also and put some details on this post series.

road mtbiking: San Juan to San Pablo City

San Pablo City nestled in the foothills of four mountains (Mt. Banahaw, Mt. Cristobal, Mt. Makiling, and the Sierra Madre) so it has a cool climate. It was also known as the City of Seven Lakes, and Sampaloc Lake is one of them so last Wednesday I revisit this lake on a mountain bike.
