Its breathtaking loveliness invariably stops us, whenever we are. But rainbows are elusive. Sometimes we see them doubled. Other times only one end will show itself against a shadowy hillside, floating in a fragile blend of light and dark air. Under the right conditions we may see it from the air, a complete circle.
A rainbow usually has three components—clouds, rain, and sunlight.
