Singapore: Double Helix Bridge

As part of strolling at the Marina Bay we cross this Double Helix Bridge. The bridge is a pedestrian bridge in the Marina Bay area linking Marina Centre with Marina South in Singapore; the bridge design takes its cue from the double helical strands of the human DNA and was officially opened on April 24th 2010.

The bridge also functions as a gallery where children’s paintings and drawings are exhibited for public viewing. The 280 metre-long pedestrian bridge links the track with the equally spectacular triple towers of the Marina Bay Sands Integrated Resort. This bridge features a unique double-helix spiral structure which has been described as a “world’s first in architectural and engineering bridge design.” The bridge has five viewing platforms which provide stunning views of the Singapore skyline.
