Kayaking at Sanibel Island Fort Myers – Florida

Sanibel Island, along with its northern neighbour, Captiva, are the best known barrier islands on the southwest Florida Gulf coast, just offshore of Fort Myers, Florida, USA. (Fort Myers is located on the southwest coast of Florida. It was an easy drive on I-275 through the heart of St. Petersburg, over the famous Sunshine Skyway Bridge and then I-75 to Ft. Myers.)

If paddle sports are your hobbies, these unique islands offers first-class canoeing and kayaking (we do kayaking). Its abundant wildlife and world-class beaches offers kayakers a great view of natural habitats and beautiful real state property. What an amazing sight to see and was thoroughly enjoyed.
Getting there:
From Central Florida, the trip south on Interstate 75 to the beaches of Fort Myers and Sanibel is a reasonable 4-hour hop. On the way to the beaches, it's worth the time to stop at the Winter Estates of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford, along tree-lined McGregor Boulevard in Fort Myers.
