Mt. Talamitan

"Somewhere between the bottom of the climb and the summit is the answer to the mystery why we climb." —Greg Child

Just a text from a friend a day before the climb, we’ve all agreed to climb day hike at Mt. Talamitan, on holy week. Upon boarding a bus bound at Nasugbu we tell the conductor to head off us at km 83 in Brgy. Aga, Nasugbu, Batangas, at the Brgy. Hall we thought that it was the jump-off point but we’re definitely wrong. So after registration at the Brgy. Hall we rode a jeep and stop us at Sampaloc (kanto), Sitio Bayabasan for jump-off and registration fee of Php 25.00 (from the main highway it was just a few step until you reach the half basketball court).
Guide was not necessary on Mt. Talamitan, trails were well established, just ask some locals for the direction going up. Don’t bother getting lost it was just a minor climb hehehe.
Mt. Talamitan is basically located at Barangay Kayrilao, Nasugbu, Batangas, PH, with the elevation of 630 masl. Trail was a crop land and no trees to take shade on sunny day so wear appropriate protection and clothing; it has also cogon grass area near the summit. Climb was less than 2 hours to reach the summit, at the summit there was a newly constructed statue of Virgin Mary.
It was surprisingly to see a less hikers and mountaineers alike on this place (just a few of them), maybe some group preferred to chose some major climb during this long week-end.
Note: From Aga Barangay Hall, it was just a minimum jeepney fare (php 8.00) to Sampaloc (kanto) and registration there was free of charge, just write your name. According to a brgy Tanod who happened to be there and help us for a jeepney ride.
