saturday med.itations: The Lord Is Still My Shepherd

Computer Psalm
The Lord is my programmer; I shall not crash. He installed His software on the hard disk of my heart; all His commands are user-friendly. His directory guides me to the right choices for His name’s sake. Even though I scroll through the problems of life, I will fear no bugs, for He is my backup. His password protects me. He prepares a menu before me in the presence of my enemies. His help is only a keystroke away. Surely goodness and mercy will follow me all the day of my life and my file will be merged with His and saved forever. Amen. – Unknown

Psalms 23
Because the Lord is my Shepherd, I have everything I need! He let me rest in the meadows grass and leads me beside the quite streams. He restores my failing health. He helps me do what honors him most. Even when walking through the dark valley of death I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me, guarding, guiding all the way. You provide delicious food for me in the presence of my enemoes. You have welcomed me as your guest; blessings over flow! Your goodness and unfailing kindness shall be with me all of my life, and afterwards I will live with You forever in Your home. (Christianity Today Edition – Paraphrased version)

Some most likely never thought or looked at these verses in this way... even though they say it over and over again. Now read it again (now in NKJV).

The Lord is my Shepherd.
– That’s Relationship!
I shall not want.
– That’s Supply!
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures.
– That’s Rest!
He leadeth me beside the still waters.
– That’s Refreshment!
He restoreth my soul.
– That’s Healing!
He leadeth me in the path of righteousness.
– That’s Guidance!
For His name sake.
– That’s Purpose!
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death.
– That’s Testing!
I will fear no evil.
– That’s Protection!
For Thou art with me.
– That’s Faithfulness!
Thy rod and Thy staff they cofort me.
– That’s Discipline!
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
– That’s Hope!
Thou anointest my head with oil.
– That’s Consecration!
My cup runneth over.
– That’s Abundance!
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life.
– That’s Blessing!
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord.
– That’s Security!
Forever.
– That’s Eternity!

The Lord thinks you are special. What is most valuable is not what we have in our lives; but who we have in our lives!

(Original Hebrew text of Psalms 23.)
