Blooming 4th Bulihan Festival


The Philippines has known for colorful festivals in every town in every province. Every festival has its own roots of cultural and heritage to tell and to showcase. (Un)known to many Filipinos, Sampaloc town in Quezon Province use leaf fronds from buri palm tree to weaved that produce different crafts and products. Moreover last April 23 to 26, 2014 those products were showcased in the 4th Bulihan Festival.


On April 25 the ‘Paradang Bayan’ took place but before that guest from Department of Tourism and town officials has their speeches.





The important part of Bulihan Festival was the “Payas Contest” in which the houses are encouraged to decorate with buri or ‘buli’ (the largest in Philippine palms) leaves.




From buri leaves, with the hands of expertise and talented can produced items such as bags, sleepers, hats, bracelets, wallets, mats, etc, which have become one of the hottest crafts here and overseas.



“There is definitely more fun in Bulihan Festival!”
