Mardi Gras: Mahaguyog Festival Grand Parade 2015


Santo Tomas town in the province of Batangas has its own distinctive way of festival celebration the ‘Mahaguyog Festival’ that stands for Mais (corn), Halaman (plant), Gulay (vegetable), and Niyog (coconut).


Mardi Gras is a group dance competition held at town plaza, but before the competition all the rival groups must parade around town in their colorful costumes and attire with some dance steps along the way.



“Kulturang Makulay at Masaganang Buhay” is this year theme for the 6th Mahaguyog Festival celebration. This festivity is a weeklong celebration that has different program and shows everyday (night) at the town plaza.



The parade started at Municipal Town Hall area at around (late) 7 am yesterday February 28, 2015 and ended at town plaza.
